CONCERN
Forehead and frown lines. Tailored to the look you want.
Forehead lines and the vertical lines between the brows, sometimes called the 11s, are among the most commonly addressed cosmetic concerns. At Plumerian Aesthetics in Bentleigh, AHPRA registered cosmetic nurse Melia tailors the approach to what you actually want. Some clients prefer a softer, refreshed look that still moves naturally with expression. Others want a stronger, smoother result with less visible movement. Both are valid preferences. We discuss what you are looking for at consultation and plan together.

What causes this concern
Forehead and frown lines develop from repeated muscle movement over time, often combined with reduced skin firmness. Some people show these lines earlier because of how their face naturally expresses. Some develop them only at rest, as static lines. Others see them only when they raise their brows or concentrate. The treatment approach depends on whether your concern is the dynamic movement, the static lines at rest, or both. Honest assessment at consultation determines the right plan.
How we can help
At Plumerian Aesthetics, considered options include:
- Facial Muscle Treatments: facial muscle treatments to gently ease the activity of the underlying muscles, softening how the lines appear. The approach is restrained by design. Most clients still move expressively
- Skin Bio-Remodelling: supporting overall skin quality in the forehead and surrounding area, often used in combination with facial muscle treatments for clients concerned about skin texture too
- Collagen Stimulation: supporting collagen production gradually, which can help with how the skin holds against expressive muscle movement

What to expect
Initial softening from facial muscle treatment usually appears within 3 to 5 days, with full settling by around day 14. The right amount of treatment depends on the look you want. Some clients want a subtle softening that keeps plenty of natural movement. Others want a stronger, smoother result with less visible movement. We discuss your preference openly at consultation and tailor the approach accordingly. A follow up appointment about two weeks later allows for refinement if needed.
Frequently asked questions
What if I want a stronger, smoother result?
That is a completely valid preference and we are happy to deliver it. We discuss exactly what you want at consultation, from a very subtle softening through to a stronger, smoother result with less visible movement. The right amount of treatment depends on the look you want, not on a one size fits all approach.
How long do results last?
Most clients enjoy results for around 3 to 4 months from facial muscle treatment, sometimes longer with continued use over time. Maintenance is typically every 4 to 6 months.
Will my face still move when I smile and laugh?
Yes. The forehead and frown area is separate from the muscles that move when you smile and laugh. Those are not affected by typical facial muscle treatment of the forehead and frown area.
Is there any downtime?
Minimal. Some clients have mild redness at the treatment sites for an hour or two after. There is no social downtime in most cases.
What if I do not like the results?
The effect of facial muscle treatment settles over the first two weeks and then gradually wears off over the following months. It is not permanent. We also discuss at consultation whether the approach is right for you before any treatment.
Can this help with frown lines that are visible even when I am not frowning?
Static lines, which are visible at rest, sometimes respond more slowly than dynamic lines that appear with expression. A combined approach over time often produces better results for static lines, which we discuss at consultation.
